AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™ is a cooperative effort between Authentic Hendrix and IK Multimedia. Authentic Hendrix was founded in late 90s, by Al Hendrix and his daughter Janie to curate and promote Jimi’s extensive recorded legacy. Jimi Hendrix was fundamental in the development of modern guitar amplification and guitar effects and marked the evolution of modern electric guitar sound. In only the four years between 1966, when he started his rehearsal sessions with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and 1970, when he died in London on September 18 at the age of 27, he contributed to change the way music was made and electric guitar was played, leaving a permanent mark on the generations of guitarists and musicians that followed. He is constantly named by guitar and music magazines as the number one guitarist of all time.

The Jimi Hendrix rig

Hendrix’s sound is a unique mix of high volume, feedback control and a exclusive, personal usage of guitar effects which was a breakthrough for its time. By then Hendrix was one of the first guitarists to experiment with the full expressive possibilities of electronic effects, which were a fundamental part of his sound. Electronic effects were a technological novelty in the 60’s with semiconductor electronics in its infancy and the very first commercially available germanium transistors introduced in the mid 50’s gradually replacing tubes in the next two decades.

IK has gone the extra mile in accurately modeling all the most important components of the Hendrix rig not only using proprietary AmpliTube 2 DSM™ (Dynamic Saturation Modeling) technology at its best, but collecting all the original vintage stomps, amplifiers and cabinets and fine tuning the software emulations by ear with accurate craftmanship to achieve incredibly realistic modeling results. A sound that will bring you back to the Woodstock era.

AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix offers the same 2 series/parallel rig structure of AmpliTube 2 and ensures a complete and flexible rig structure that can be used not only to recreate the authentic tones of popular Hendrix tunes but since the modeled gear in this product is in such high demand by guitarists, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix is a fantastic tool for many styles of modern rock music from hard rock to punk, alternative, progressive and pop.

9 Stomp Effect Models

Wah V846

The Wah 46 is a model of the most famous wah-wah used by Jimi Hendrix which became his signature sound in masterpiece tunes like “Voodoo Child.” Although the original had no auto-wah features, this additional functionality has been added for a more convenient usage when played on a computer. This is considered to be one of the best sounding wah-wahs of all time

Uni-V

This was a chorus/rotating-speaker simulator that was introduced in 1969 and used predominantly in live performances. This created a swirling effect quite similar to the Leslie® speaker cabinet but with the addition of speed control. This effect was employed on tracks such as “Hey Baby (The Land of the New Rising Sun),” “Earth Blues,” and “Machine Gun.” A vintage Uni-Vibe™ is in such high demand it sells for over a thousand dollars, if you can even find one.

Fuzz Age

This was the main fuzz box he used, a classic germanium transistor fuzz effect. Often combined with a wah, this effect produced permanent sustain and endless distortion. The original Fuzz Face® is one of the most collectible fuzz boxes ever.

Octa-V

This effect was first used on “Purple Haze” and “Fire.” It is a fuzz box with frequency-doubling circuitry that produces a second note an octave above the fundamental note.

RightFuzz

A highly sought-after, rare fuzz box, it was one of the first commercially available floor effect units, making its first appearance in 1966. It doesn’t get any more vintage than this when it comes to stomp pedals.

FuzzOne

Hendrix began using this fuzz box while playing in New York City before founding the Experience. Its sounds can be heard in the enormously popular Rolling Stones song “Satisfaction.”

XS Fuzz

Jimi used many fuzz box units like this vintage model which adds to the powerful sound palette that AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix can offer.

Class Fuzz

Jimi used many fuzz box units like this vintage model which adds to the powerful sound palette that AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix can offer.

4 Amp Models

British Lead S100

This is modeled on the Classic British 100 watt amp Jimi is generally associated with. Jimi often used multiple amp heads (up to 6) looping them together to get more power, a setup that can be recreated in AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix because of its dual rig capability.

American Vintage B

The design of this amp influenced many of its successors and was used by Jimi in the studio recording of “Voodoo Child.”

American Vintage T

This was Jimi’s amp of choice during ’65 through ’66. It included a spring reverb and was equipped with 2x12” J.B. Lansing® speakers.

American Vintage D

Hendrix acquired this 100 watt amp in 1968 and used it in ‘68 and ‘69 with the Experience tour together with an assortment of other amps. The amp sported a built-in spring reverb unit and originally came with 2x15” J.B. Lansing® speakers.
