Incredible samples
G7 Kontakt Edition has an integrated sample library containing stunningly realistic guitar, keyboard, drum, and orchestral voices. Whether you need the soft mellow tones of a classical guitar, the harmonically rich, woody sound of an acoustic or the full-on ear-shattering distortion of an electric, the Kontakt sample library has the solution.
Input chords & solos using on-screen fretboard
It's easy to play music directly into G7 using the on-screen fretboard. With its familiar appearance, entering a note is as simple as pointing the cursor over the appropriate note and clicking the mouse. To build up a chord, just click more notes on the fretboard. For even more versatility, the fretboard is completely customisable. Choose between six different neck styles (including three different bass guitars) and enlarge or shrink its size to suit the way you work.
View music as tab
Whether you use the fretboard or a MIDI instrument to input your performance, G7 automatically translates the music into tab in real-time. And once a basic melody is in place, it can be perfected with G7's advanced editing facilities which let you add markings such as bends, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs and harmonics.
Work with MIDI & ASCII tab files
Guitarists have been sharing music in the form of MIDI and ASCII tab files for years now. A quick look on an Internet search engine will reveal thousands of them available for download. G7 provides full support for both file types. When they are opened, the program will intelligently extract all note, chord and rhythm data and accurately convert it to tab.
Scan and convert sheet music
With G7 it's even possible to scan printed music and convert it into notation (which can then be translated into tab) - like Optical Character Recognition for music! G7 comes with a free music scanning program, PhotoScore Lite.
Chords and lyrics
Adding chords and lyrics to your music is a breeze with G7. Chord symbols are generated automatically and it's even possible to create an accompaniment part from them. Lyrics can be typed directly onto the score, or imported from a text file.
Instant transfer between tabs & notation
At the touch of a button, G7 will convert tab to conventional music notation and vice versa. This opens up a world of possibilities - G7 will analyse any music (even if it wasn't originally written for a guitar) and work out a suitable fingering. It can even be customised to work within a certain range on the fretboard to match your ability. Once the music has been converted, just press play and G7 will display the fingering in real-time on the fretboard.
Transposition made easy
Perhaps you've got a file of your favorite tune but it's not in the same key as the original. Or maybe you need to change the pitch to suit the vocal range of the lead singer in your band. With G7 it's no problem. Just select the transposition interval and the program will re-calculate the key signature, chord diagrams and symbols, and re-finger the tab. This feature also lets you get really imaginative as a composer. For example, you could record a part into G7 on a guitar and then transpose it for another instrument entirely!
