The Kenton Spin Doctor is an entry level MIDI controller, designed not only to appeal to the newcomer but also to anyone wanting to add knobs to their setup. The on-board editing facilities are less comprehensive than those of the Kenton Control Freak range, but Spin Doctor is fully-programmable from the supplied software editor or from a Control Freak. The unit is also compatible with the wide range of Kenton Control Freak profiles.

What sets the Kenton Spin Doctor apart from other controllers?
- Spin Doctor is compatible with the hundreds of Control Freak profiles that are available for download free from Kenton. This means that Spin Doctor already supports an extremely wide range of MIDI hardware and software without any need for programming, and the profile set is frequently updated with profiles for new devices.
- Spin Doctor is fully programmable via the free software editor, and it can send every type of MIDI message, including freely assignable System Exclusive, making it possible to control hardware synths and modules as well as software applications. Certain other controllers may make the point that they can transmit 'pre-programmed Sys-Ex messages', but the SysEx messages they can actually send are very restricted and do not allow for in-depth control of MIDI hardware.
- Spin Doctor has a 4 character LED display, with scrolling text, which makes it quick and easy to check knob and program names, and to edit the unit from the front panel.
- Spin Doctor is extremely easy to include in a MIDI setup. Simply connect the MIDI OUT of your controller keyboard to the MIDI IN of Spin Doctor, and the MIDI OUT of Spin Doctor to the MIDI IN of your computer. Whenever you move any knobs on Spin Doctor, this is merged with the MIDI from your keyboard and everything is sent directly to your computer.
- Spin Doctor has a MIDI analyser mode which allows you to see what types of MIDI messages are being transmitted by your equipment. In this way, Spin Doctor may be used as a powerful diagnostic tool if you have a problem with your MIDI setup.
