History In The Making: Synth
Legends Symposium A Success!
The audioMIDI.com Synth Legends
Event was a huge success and
a great time for both the guests
and the participants. The event
began with each participant speaking
individually about their views
on synthesis and a short background
of themselves. The audience was
truly given a unique view and
perspective from Bob Moog, Tom
Oberheim, and Dave Smith.

One of the highlights throughout
the evening was the moderator
Roger Linn. As many know Roger
is a legend himself with his
early drum machine products and
the design force behind the Akai
MPC series. His depth of knowledge
and relationship with each of
the participants made for some
magical moments.

The second part of the symposium
was a panel discussion that also
included a special guest Marcus
Ryle. Marcus is the man behind
Line 6 but got his early start
in the world of analog synthesizers
with Oberheim. Numerous questions
were asked by the audience about
early synth designs, the effect
of interaction and input from
artists that used the equipment,
and what the “Legends” thought
about new technologies and virtual
instruments.

It was a historical evening
and we would like to thank Bob
Moog, Tom Oberheim, Dave Smith,
Roger Linn, and Marcus Ryle for
a magical evening. We would also
like to thank everyone for coming
out and making this a very successful
evening.
